PCB Assembly Services

Evatronix supports PCB assembly projects through cooperation with EMS partners. We help customers move from bare printed circuit boards to assembled electronic products by coordinating suitable assembly technologies, component sourcing options, production documentation and quality-control requirements.

Our PCB assembly services are available for prototypes, small production batches and repeat manufacturing projects. Depending on the project scope, components may be supplied by the customer or sourced according to the provided Bill of Materials (BOM).

PCB Assembly Capabilities

We support a broad range of PCB assembly technologies and production options, selected according to the design, component types and production requirements of each project.

SMD THT Assembly

SMD, THT and Mixed PCB Assembly

Flexible assembly processes supporting SMD, THT, and mixed technologies for a wide variety of electronic products - from compact devices to industrial systems.

We support the assembly of:

  • SMD assemblies for surface-mount components
  • THT assemblies for through-hole components
  • Mixed-technology assemblies combining SMD and THT
  • Single-sided and double-sided assembly
  • Automatic and manual assembly, depending on design
  • Assembly of components in non-standard packages
  • Assembly of miniature components, including BGA

This flexibility enables the selection of an appropriate assembly process to meet all quality and functional targets.

Soldering Process

Leaded and Lead-Free Assembly

PCB assembly can be performed using leaded or lead-free soldering processes, adapting perfectly to your technical and application-specific requirements.

Soldering options include:

  • SMD reflow soldering in a standard process
  • Reflow soldering in a nitrogen atmosphere with two cooling zones
  • Wave soldering for SMD and THT components
  • Wave soldering in a standard process or nitrogen atmosphere

The selected process should be defined at the quotation stage together with other manufacturing requirements.

Components Procurement

Component Supply & Procurement

We provide flexible component sourcing options, allowing you to seamlessly consign parts or rely on us for complete BOM procurement.

For PCB assembly projects, customers may:

  • Provide all required electronic components
  • Provide selected components while the remaining parts are sourced for the project
  • Request component procurement based on the submitted BOM

A complete and accurate BOM helps streamline component sourcing and supports a faster quotation and production process.

Technical Support

Technical Support for Projects

Benefit from our expert technical and project assistance to optimally prepare your PCB assembly for efficient and reliable production.

This technical assistance may include:

  • Consultation on assembly documentation
  • Support in selecting suitable technical solutions
  • Clarification of component, placement and assembly requirements
  • Guidance on the files required for quotation and manufacturing
  • Support with PCB assembly and component quotation requests

Quality Control and Inspection

Quality control requirements are an important part of the PCB assembly process. Depending on the project and the selected manufacturing process, inspection methods may include:

Inspection Methods

  • Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)
  • X-ray inspection
  • Manual inspection

Assembly Verification

These controls support the verification of component placement, solder joints and other assembly-related features, including components in BGA packages.

Required Documentation for PCB Assembly

Complete and consistent production documentation helps reduce the risk of delays, clarifications and errors during component sourcing and assembly. Before submitting an enquiry, please prepare the files listed below.

Bill of Materials Data

Bill of Materials (BOM)

The primary document used to identify the components required for assembly and, where applicable, procurement.

We recommend providing the BOM in an Excel format. It should include:

  • Quantity of each component required per PCB
  • Component type (resistor, capacitor, connector, etc.)
  • Component value and relevant parameters
  • Package type (e.g., SMD 0201)
  • Reference designators (R1, C1, Q1, etc.)
  • Manufacturer part number & name
  • Supply info (customer-supplied or to be sourced)
  • Datasheet reference, comment or alternative component

Components with the same value should be grouped and summed. Exact manufacturer part numbers are strongly recommended to avoid delays.

Component Placement Diagram

Component Placement Drawing

Shows the PCB outline and the location of components, enabling precise identification of positions and orientations.

We recommend providing the placement drawing in PDF or JPG format. It should include:

  • Component designators corresponding to the BOM
  • Clearly visible reference designators next to components
  • Polarity and orientation markings (e.g., diodes, MCUs)
  • An indication of pin 1 where required
  • Non-mirrored labels
  • Separate drawings for the top and bottom sides when needed
Solder Paste Equipment

Solder Paste Files

Used to prepare precision solder paste stencils and successfully support the entire SMD assembly process.

Please provide solder paste files in Gerber format.

For panelised PCBs, the paste files should correspond to the complete panel rather than to an individual board only. If SMD components are assembled on both sides, provide separate top and bottom paste files.

Automated Assembly Machine

Pick and Place Files

Used by assembly equipment to determine which components should be placed, their exact position, and rotation.

An Excel format is recommended. Each component should be listed separately and include:

  • Component reference designator and value
  • Package type
  • X coordinate in millimetres
  • Y coordinate in millimetres
  • Assembly side or layer
  • Rotation information
  • Optional comments where needed

The BOM should not be replaced by a Pick and Place file, as the two documents serve entirely different purposes.

Solder Paste Stencil Making

Solder Paste Stencils

An important part of surface-mount assembly, enabling solder paste to be transferred accurately and rapidly onto PCB pads.

Benefits of our Solder Paste Stencils:

  • Shorter solder paste application time
  • Accurate stencil production
  • Short stencil lead times
  • Solder paste application for small component packages, including BGA

To request a stencil, please submit the PCB design in Gerber format together with the relevant project requirements.

PCB Quotation File Setup

Assembly Quotation Data

To prepare an accurate PCB assembly quotation, please provide a complete set of documentation and project requirements.

Your enquiry should include:

  • Required quantity of assembled PCBs
  • Preferred delivery time
  • Assembly option (assembly only or with sourcing)
  • PCB files & board info
  • Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Component placement drawing
  • Solder paste files
  • Pick and Place files
  • Info on customer-supplied components
  • Special assembly or packaging needs

Please submit files as a .zip or .rar archive. The current quotation form accepts attachments up to 3 MB.

For larger project documentation, contact the PCB team directly via email.
